A Habiganj court has sentenced 10 people to death for killing a farmer in a village 17 years ago.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Mafroza Parvin pronounced the verdict on Wednesday.
Besides, the court also acquitted 14 other accused from the charges.
The death-row convicts are: Ramij Ali, Tariq Ullah, Abdur Rahman, Abdul Mannan, Bachchu Miah, Abdus Salam, Yusuf Ullah, Abdul Motlib, Abdul Hannan and Nasim Ullah.
According to the case statement, the accused hacked Abdur Razzaque to death on October 29 in 2001 over a trivial issue at Baghjur village in the northeastern district’s Baniachang Upazila.
The victim's son Harun Miah filed a murder case on that day with Baniachong Police Station against 27 people.
